AIT Chemical is a leading innovator in advanced adhesive technologies, specializing in
high-performance, water-based solutions engineered for modern manufacturing. In this
year IWF 2026 Exhibition, AIT Chemical will be focusing in presenting specialty heat-
activated modified PUD water-based adhesive that matches those reactive PUR and
Formaldehyde-based adhesive without the moisture-sensitive before curing and
formaldehyde emission respectively.
CC4158 is a proven heat-activated modified PUD adhesive for some of the most
advanced applications for decades. CC4358 is an innovative product that has been
engineered to have higher activation temperature of 95-125ºC and consequently higher
temperature resistance for creeping and bonding strength to over 100ºC. The high bond
strength of over 2,000 psi shear bond strength is designed as substitution for reactive
PUR and Formaldehyde-based adhesive for veneer bonding and composite wood
binding lamination with outstanding moisture and water-soaking stability.
CC4358 in binding lamination for forming plywood and particleboard wood can use the
same cold and hot press machines that are currently designed for Formaldehyde based
adhesive. With 50-60% solid, the processing of these water-based adhesive can follow
the same manufacturing and handling processes. The differential advantage is that the
hot-press process for heat-activation time can be dramatically shortened to less than 5
minutes.
These heat-activated modified PUD water-based adhesives have been proven for use
in edgebanding, profile wrapping besides the traditional flat lamination of wood furniture
applications. They can be used in wet bonding with heat-activation subsequently. They
can also be pre-applied and dry to form heat-activating dry film on veneer or substrates.
For decorative veneer or surface protection on wood surfaces, AB2250-FT is a wet and
contact adhesive that has outstanding green strength with one of the industry’s fastest
build-up of shear bond strength within seconds for ultimate productivity. ABX2860 is a
self-crosslinking version for dramatically increased moisture and water-soaking
resistance.
A key differentiator for AIT Chemical is its commitment to environmentally responsible
innovation. By replacing traditional solvent carriers with water-based systems, and
Formaldehyde-free chemistry, the company helps customers reduce volatile organic
compound (VOC) and Formaldehyde emissions, improve workplace safety, and meet
increasingly stringent regulatory requirements—all without sacrificing performance. AIT
Chemical’s approach is rooted in a deep understanding of adhesive chemistry and
material compatibility.
The company works closely with customers to identify the optimal solution based on
factors such as substrate composition, required bond speed, and flexibility. This
collaborative, application-driven mindset ensures that each adhesive is precisely
matched to its intended use, resulting in improved efficiency, reliability, and product
quality. With its combination of technical expertise, cutting-edge formulations, and
commitment to sustainability, AIT Chemical is redefining what is possible in
woodworking, wood binding lamination and foam bonding and beyond.
