The Powder Coating Institute (PCI) is the trade association that represents the North American powder coating industry. PCI provides resources and education through workshops, webinars, events, technical manuals, and PCI’s official publication, Powder Coated Tough magazine. PCI promotes powder coating technology and communicates its benefits to advance the utilization of powder coating as an economical, non-polluting, high-quality finish for industrial and consumer products. Companies that join PCI have access to a number of benefits, including the opportunity to get involved with the vast network of professionals that work together to improve powder coating technology and application methods.
PCI encourages quality powder coating processes through the PCI Certification program. PCI Certification is an extensive audit program that evaluates an applicant’s powder coating processes and procedures, equipment, maintenance practices, and quality control capabilities to ensure they have the capability of producing a high-quality powder coated product. The program offers two certification types; PCI 3000 Certification applies to custom coaters and PCI 4000 Certification applies to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
PCI also collaborates with the Chemical Coaters Association International (CCAI) for the Peer Group program, which provides a forum for small groups of non-competing custom coater owners & executives to exchange valuable information that can help improve their business and operational practices.
These are just a few of the initiatives PCI and its members work together to achieve for the powder coating industry.
