What Is a Woodworking Influencer? Find Out and Meet them at IWF 2022

Atlanta, GA—IWF announced in May that it would stage its first Woodworking Influencers Lounge (Booth A10620) during IWF 2022.

So what is a “woodworking influencer?” The woodworking industry has long relied on knowledgeable craftspeople with mastery of specific skills, and the ability and willingness to share their knowledge. Educators, of course, and consultants fit into this definition of “influencers.”

But so do the ranks of craftspeople willing to share peer-to-peer. Knowledge and skill sets have been traditionally transmitted through apprenticeships within woodworking companies.

The internet, a natural extension of word-of-mouth advertising for business, gives woodworkers the ability to communicate to their local prospects, but also provides exposure to peers far and wide. This phenomenon has given rise to a cohort of woodworking influencers, now an important force in communicating trends in technology, tools, materials, and techniques for producing furniture, cabinetry, and casegoods to hundreds of thousands of woodworking professionals.
