WATERLOO, IA – Dura Supreme has acquired Bertch Cabinet Mfg. as part of its expansion in the premium, semi-custom cabinetry market. It was with an eye to such potential that Dura Supreme Cabinetry itself was acquired by private equity firm GHK Capital Partners in 2019.

Bertch's manufacturing facilities in Oelwein, Jesup, and Waterloo, IA (below) total more than 1,000,000 sq. ft.

“We are excited about the potential this new business partnership creates,” said Tony Sugalski, Dura Supreme CEO. “The combination of companies creates a unique product mix that we believe will create advantages for our dealers and customers across the USA.”

The acquisition of Bertch by Dura Supreme brings together two highly regarded companies with well-known brands in the kitchen cabinetry and bath cabinets markets. It also greatly increases Dura Supreme’s size. Founded in 1954, before this acquisition Dura Supreme had grown to employ over 400 people at its 220,000 sq. ft. facility in Howard Lake, MN, where it manufactures premium semi-custom framed and frameless cabinetry for its nationwide network of dealers.

Bertch Manufacturing Facility Overview

Bertch is headquartered in Waterloo, IA, and has production facilities there (above) as well as Oelwein and Jesup, Iowa, manufacturing semi-custom bath cabinetry and kitchen cabinetry for its nationwide network of dealers. Founded in 1977, Bertch began by making bathroom vanities, only moving into kitchen cabinets in 1984.

Over the years Bertch entered new segments, including transport (1983); Paragon Glass fabrication (1989); Oasis cultured marble counter tops (1990); and then entering the semi-custom cabinet business in 1992. In 2000, Bertch launched a more economical line of cabinets for builders, and also launched Timbergate, producing interior home doors made partially from cabinet building scrap.
