About the Speakers:  

Robert Bein is a third generation wood finisher and coatings technician that currently runs the specialty coating division for Gemini Coatings. He has over 30 years experience in wood finishing. He has worked in the finishing department of large and small woodworking facilities and has experience in many phases of woodworking including project management, estimating and engineering. He has been trained in the use of traditional and modern wood coatings from several coating manufacturers. He has been trained in spray equipment and spray theory at the Graco training facility in Minneapolis, MI.


He has owned an Architectural Woodworking company and was responsible for rapid and profitable growth before selling the company. In 2001 he opened a wood coatings distribution company with his wife, Lisa which he recently sold. 

He is currently responsible for training wood finishers in the use of modern wood coatings as well as in traditional wood finishing techniques. He consults on the design and layout of new finishing rooms and trains his own staff on the most current materials and how they bring value to finishers. He currently resides in Wading River, NY with his wife, Lisa, and son, Christopher. When he is not watching paint dry he is an amateur chef, surfcaster and photographer. 



David Jackson has 29 years of experience with wood finishes.  He has worked for two coatings manufacturers and held positions ranging from technical to operations and to sales.  Jackson is currently an employee/owner of Gemini Industries.  He has also been a columnist and contributing editor for eight years for a wood finishing magazine. (Wood Digest's Finishing magazine and it's predecessors Finishing and Restorations and Professional Refinishing).  He was a speaker at IWF 2012 & IWF 2014 Finishing Symposiums.  

Having grown up in a family owned and operated woodworking business Diane has been in the industry for over 35 years. During her years of experience she has witnessed the many changes that have brought us to today’s advanced finishing system and technology. Currently residing in sunny Florida Diane is employed with Gemini Coatings where she manages a territory in Industrial Distribution Sales throughout the Southeast and also conducts all training to new distributors joining the Gemini coating family as well as providing the company’s technical support service.


In addition Diane writes a monthly blog for Her desire and passion to learn and teach have kept her abreast of the cutting edge technology in the coating industry. She has also been a guest speaker for several trade events including IWF, AWFS, Woodworkers and Wood Turners Guilds. She has taught at the Cleveland Woodworking Academy as well as at several coating distributors around the country. She has restored many historical landmarks and homes in Detroit, Michigan.
